Mr. Woodrow Turner Williamson, age 91, of Cedartown passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 2, 1916 in Rome, Georgia to the late Virgil A. Williamson of Fruithurst, Alabama and the late Ida Biggers Williamson of Cedartown.

Mr. Williamson worked as a train conductor for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad transporting army troops during World War II. He retired in 1981 from the railroad after forty years of service.

Family members surviving are wife, Dorothy L. Ball Williamson of Cedartown; son and daughter-in-law, John and Rhoda Williamson of Cedartown; daughter, Janice Thompson of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Hatti of North Carolina. Ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Woodrow Turner Williamson will be conducted on Friday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Ryan Pyle, Cole Williamson, Paul Smith, Gene Smith, Scott Williamson, Mike Williamson, Bill Welchel, and Ricky Guice.

Active and retired employees of Norfolk-Southern are asked to be Honorary Pallbearers.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Woodrow Turner Williamson.
