Obituary

Mr. William Howard Redmond, age 93, of Duluth, Georgia, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was born in Five Points, Alabama on July 2, 1916, the son of Edgar Noah and Sadie Glosson Redmond.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cedartown and a retired employee of General Electric.

Mr. Howard Redmond's loyalty to his community was shown through his membership in the Cedartown Lions Club where he held various offices including President in 1980-1981. He was honored as the top seller of Christmas fruitcakes for many years.

Mr. Redmond is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Dorothy Garmon Redmond, who passed away June 2001. They can be remembered for the beautiful rose garden that they took such great pride and care at their Marshall Street home.

Other family members that have preceded him in death are his parents; brothers, Robert Redmond, Elmer Redmond, James Redmond, and Melvin Redmond and sister, Lillian Hilburn.

Mr. Howard Redmond is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Van and Gail Redmond; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Waldrup, Sarah Lipham, and Mary Duncan.

The funeral service for Mr. William Howard Redmond will be conducted on Friday, September 11th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Drummond officiating. Mr. Van Redmond will deliver the eulogy.

The interment will follow in the family plot at Northview Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Clay Redmond, Todd Kruegler, Scott Hudson, Kenny Williams, Mike Green, and Jim Redmond.

The family will receive friends at Gammage Funeral Home on Friday, September 11th, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Flowers are being accepted, however, memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096.

The Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. William Howard Redmond.
