Mr. William Winford "Wink" Holbrooks age 84 of Cedartown passed away Monday, March 13, 2006. He was born on January 6, 1922 in Polk County. Mr. Holbrooks was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Mr. Holbrooks was a member of the Benedict Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by wife Helen Purcell Holbrooks and parents, William McKinley and Lillie Mae Wester Holbrooks.
Mr. William Winford "Wink" Holbrooks is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Fred Taffar, grandchildren, Pam and Michael Lee and Jeff and Susan Taffar; four great grandchildren, Meghan Lee, Allison Lee, Anna Frances Taffar, and John Taffar.
The funeral service for Mr. William Winford "Wink" Holbrooks will be conducted on Wednesday, March 15th at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Brewster-Cleveland Post #86 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Paul Cochran, Howard Lester, Paul Purcell and Michael Purcell.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 15th from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are omitted. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
