First Sergeant William Allen Garrett, age 38 of Cedartown, Ga passed away on January 6th, 2005. He was born on March 28th, 1966. First Sergeant William Garrett was a 1984 graduate of Cedartown High School where he was the embodiment of the Cedartown Building Spirit as a member of the football, baseball and wrestling teams. William Allen Garrett was a highly decorated combat veteran and participated proudly in "Operation Enduring Freedom" and Operation Iraqi Freedom". William Allen's courage and character inspired tremendous respect and admiration from his fellow Non Commissioned Officers, servicemen, as well as his life long friends. First Sergeant William Allen Garrett was a student at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy in El Paso, TX at the time of his passing.
William Allen was married on March 29th, 1997 to his loving wife, Christina Marie Garrett. William Allen was a proud father of 17 year old Candice Rachelle Garrett, 14 year old Casandra Robin Garrett, 11 month old Hope Elizabeth Garrett and his unborn son, due March 5th, Timothy Allen Garrett. William Allen was a proud and loving son of Father, William Herman Garrett, Step Mother, Cathy Ann Garrett and Mother, Glenda Faye Sadler. William Allen was also a proud and loving brother of Rhonda Leanne Shelton, Gia Lynn Vines and Cathy Yvonne Moats.
Funeral Services for First Sergeant William Allen Garrett will be held on Friday, January 14th at Ten o'clock in the morning at the Gammage Funeral Home, Cedartown Ga. Performed by Rev. Jeff Hulsey. Following the Service, First Sergeant William Allen Garrett will be laid to rest at the Ft. Benning National Cemetery, Columbus, Ga. at four o'clock in the afternoon. First Sergeant William Allen Garrett will receive full military rites, conducted by his Comrades in Arms assigned to his former Unit, the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operation Aviation Regiment (Airborne) located out of Savannah, GA.
