Obituary

Mr. William Henry "Butch" Cleland, Jr., age 74 of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born on December 24, 1941 in Atlanta. He was the son of the late William Henry Cleland, Sr. and Nelma Ann McCurdy Cleland.

Butch graduated from Chamblee High School, in Chamblee, Georgia. While a senior in high school he began working for his uncle at South Cobb Skating Rink in Mableton, Georgia and later at Crescent Park Skating Rink. It was his dream to own and operate his own rink. In December of 1974, Butch opened Fun Wheels Skating Center in Cedartown, Georgia.

Butch became a member of the Latham Masonic Lodge in Austell, Georgia in 1966 and then became a Shriner. He was just presented his 50 year apron from the Masons shortly before his death. He was also a member of the American Legion Squadron Post #86 S.A.L.

Butch is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Hill Cleland; daughter, Lori Scott (Tom); sons, Mark Cleland (Angie) and Chet Cleland (Anna); step-daughters, Dana Grimes (Calvin) and Kami Hill; step-son, Clay Bentley; sister, LoDean Scoble; grandchildren, Guy and Wells Scott, Taylor Cleland, Dawson Cleland, Kalli Cleland, Ella Cleland, Mari Cleland and Addy Cleland and nieces, Dena Stockton and Leigh Montillot.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. William Henry "Butch" Cleland will be conducted on Monday, March 14, 2016 at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Boatner officiating and Mr. Bill Lundy giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with full Masonic Rites conducted by the Caledonia Lodge #121.

The family of Mr. Cleland will receive family and friends on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Charles Bishop, Chuck Dawson, Wayne Andrews, Jason Glenn, Tim McElwee and David Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be: Tommy McElwee, Larry Begay, George Knight, Dwight Beck, Chris Hogg, Jodi Hindman, Bobby Pierce and Carson Tanner.
