Mr. William Oscar Austin, Jr., age 96 of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016. He was born on June 20, 1920 in Cedartown. He was the son of the late William Oscar Austin, Sr. and Elizabeth Bryant Austin.

Mr. Austin is survived by his daughters, Gail Austin Bailey, Melissa Austin Johnson (Richard) and Linda Austin Slafta (Anthony); son, William Edward Austin (Jeanine); brother, Billy Austin; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Austin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Allma Lee Coleman Austin; sister, Alleae Austin and brother, Bryant Austin.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. William Oscar Austin, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Friendly Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Vines officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral hour at the church.

Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Honor Guard Post #86.

The family of Mr. Austin will receive family and friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Lonnie Nale, Christopher Bailey, Henry McDaniel King, IV, David Oliver and Matthew Scott Tillman.
