Mr. Walter Gerald "Preacher" Canter, age 72, of Piedmont passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Piedmont, Alabama. He was the son of the late James Clyde Canter and Florence Buttram Canter.

Mr. Canter is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Langley and Scott; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Wayne Canter and Ann; two grandchildren, Josh Erwin and Kailey Allmon and lady friend, Carolyn Hampton and family.

Mr. Canter is preceded in death by his parents and son, James Christopher "Chris" Canter.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Walter Gerald Canter will be conducted on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at seven o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Williams officiating.

The family of Mr. Canter will receive family and friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from five o'clock in the evening until the funeral service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
