Mr. Wallace Leland Putnam, age 76, of Piedmont, Alabama passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. The funeral services for Wallace Leland Putnam will be held on Monday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. CST at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont, Alabama with Pastor Rick Blythe officiating. The burial will follow at the Borden Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 1, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. CST at the funeral home. Mr. Putnam was born on February 28, 1932 to Charles L. Putnam and Geneva Pelle Miller Putnam in Borden Springs, Alabama. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country in Korea during the Korean War. He retired from Bell South and was the past owner of West Rome Construction Company. Mr. Wallace Leland Putnam was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne M. Putnam. Survivors include one sister and her spouse, Sarah and Jimmy Woodfin, four nephews and their spouses, Timothy and Charmine Putnam, Michael and Wanda Putnam, Charles and Jeanette Putnam, and Brian and Donna Woodfin. The Thompson Funeral Home of Piedmont, Alabama will be directing the services.
