Obituary

Mrs. Virginia Beatrice Pruitt Mull Powell, age 87, of Cedartown transitioned to her heavenly home on August 20, 2015, after a brief illness in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Powell was born in Cleburne County , Alabama . She was the daughter of Henry Raymond Pruitt and Carrie Elizabeth McAlphin Pruitt.

Mrs. Powell was a member of the Lime Branch Baptist Church for over 50 years and enjoyed her Victor Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her loving husband, John Barney Powell; daughters, Patricia Gilley and Michelle (Mark) Watters, sons, Larry (Imogene) Mull, Jimmy (Carolyn) Mull and Timmy (Rita) Mull; grandchildren, Robyn (Bart) Sullivan, Kristi Gilley, Jennifer (Steven) Swift, Heather (Ronnie) Lemons, Ashley (Joel) Guthrie, Breton (Jessica) Watters, Aryn Watters and Alex Watters; great-grandchildren, Joshua Gilley, Hannah Gilley, Bethany Walker, Matthew Walker, Chloe Swift, Molli Lemons, Noah Lemons, Grayden Guthrie and Hayes Guthrie; great-great-grandson, Hunter Gilley; sister, Helen Ruby Pruitt Bishop; and brother and sister-in-law, Billy Gene and Betty Pruitt, many nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Roscoe Eugene Mull, infant daughter; grandsons, Michael Jason Gilley and Brian Scott Gilley; granddaughter, Carolyn Amanda Mull; brothers, James Russell Pruitt, Willie Dean Pruitt, Jimmie Lamar Pruitt; sister, Mildred Magelene Pruitt Forrister.

The funeral service for Mrs. Virginia Beatrice Powell will be conducted on Saturday, August 22 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy McGuire, Rev. Kermit Pruitt and Breton Watters officiating. Interment will follow in the Lime Branch Cemetery in Cedartown.

The family of Mrs. Powell will receive family and friends on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Breton Watters, Aryn Watters, Joel Guthrie, Bart Sullivan, Van Powell and Ronnie Lemons. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Mrs. Virginia Beatrice Powell.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Lime Branch Cemetery Fund.
