Mrs. Virginia Kemp Mayhew, age 94, of Cedartown, GA passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012. She was born in New Kent County, VA on June 19, 1918, a daughter of the late Walter Stewart and Edith Stewart.
Mrs. Mayhew was a native of Virginia and came to live in Cedartown six years ago. She was a buyer for Nachmans Retail Store and often traveled to New York to buy seasonal merchandise. She was also a wonderful seamstress and worked for major stores in alterations.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Mayhew was also preceded in death by her husbands, Paul J. Kemp and Clarence F. Mayhew and daughter, Norma Jean Alford.
Surviving are her daughters, Pat Owsley, Barbara Kemp; sister, Edythe Stewart; brothers, Buck Stewart, Stanley Stewart. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, VA.
