Obituary

Mr. Vernon Ray Elliott, Sgt. First Class (Ret.) U. S. Army, age 68, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011. He was born on March 21, 1943, in Columbus, GA. He was the son of the late Mr. A.A. Elliott & Mrs. Edna Yawn Elliott Berry.

Sergeant First Class Vernon Ray Elliott retired from the United States Army where he proudly served as a drill instructor among his many other responsibilities.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his daughters, Robin and Tina; two grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Helen Moore; and nieces, Lori Soracco, Susan Weaver, and Stacy Scheidweiler.

Mr. Elliott is preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Houston Elliott and William (Bill) Arthur Elliott.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Elliott will be conducted on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage and sons Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Sims and Rev. Bud Davis officiating. The Georgia National Guard Honor Guard will be conducting full military rites. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens.

The family of Mr. Elliott will receive family and friends on Monday, October 24, 2011 from six o'clock in the afternoon until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that donations be made to Heyman Hospice Care at Floyd, P.O. Box 163, Rome, Georgia 30162

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home, Cedartown, GA is handling the arrangements for Mr. Vernon Ray Elliott, Sgt. First Class (Ret.) U. S. Army.
