Ms. Vernie Martin Hamby, age 93 of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. She was born on November 14, 1921 in Rome, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Martin and Prudie McFrye Martin.

Ms. Hamby is survived by her, daughter, Patricia "Pat" Sutton; sons, Terry Wade Hamby and Eric "Toby" Hamby; sister, Hester Wheeler; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Fred Wray.

Ms. Hamby is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. "Dick" Hamby; son, Mark Laney Hamby and several brothers and sisters.

The funeral arrangements for Ms. Hamby will be conducted on Friday, April 17, 2015 at three o'clock in the afternoon with Rev. Danny Tucker and Mr. Jason Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Hamby will receive family and friends on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jason Hamby, Eric Hamby, Matthew Sanders, Drew Sanders, Alan Collier and Jacob Hamby.
