Mrs. Velma Welchel Hendrix, age 93 of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She was born on December 15, 1923 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late William T. and Molly McGregor Carter.

Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist of Cedartown, Georgia. Velma is a retiree from Jockey Mensware and Wal-Mart.

Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her son, Jimmy Welchel (Brenda); daughters, Barbara Hollingsworth, Mary Porter and Vicki Richardson; sister, Catherine Dunngan; six grandchildren, Tammy Mulkey, Dale Lee, Stacey Moore, Tina Stansil, Darrell Lee and Jeremy Richardson; twelve great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hendrix is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Randolph Welchel; second husband, Seward Hendrix; three sisters and six brothers.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Velma Welchel Hendrix will be conducted on Friday, November 10, 2017 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Russell officiating and Mr. Jimmy Welchel giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Hendrix will receive family and friends on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chad Hortman, T.J. Hortman, Dale Lee, Darrell Lee, Dylan Jackson and Jeremy Richardson.
