Mrs. Thelma West Whitehead Peyton, age 96, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on February 21, 2009. She was born June 27, 1912 in Polk County, Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, OB Whitehead and Wiley Peyton; parents, Benjamin F. West and Rebecca West; sister, Beatrice Smith; brother, Frank West; and step-mother, Dean Green West.
Mrs. Peyton is survived by children, Rebecca Griffin, Beatrice Weaver, Joyce Atkins, Janet Shaw, Wade Whitehead, and Stanley Whitehead; and brother, Duane West, Sr. Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Thelma West Whitehead Peyton will be conducted on Monday, February 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Pine Bower Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Loudermilk and Rev. W.A. Ivie officiating. The interment will follow in the family lot at Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Peyton's body will lie in state at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Pallbearers are Lee Atkins, Paul Diamond, Calvin Maddox, Jack Prewett, Mark Weaver, and Duane West, Jr. The Honorary Pallbearers are Clint Atkins, Billy Joe Billingsley, Bruce Hackney, Troy Hackney, Bob Tillman, Marlin Weaver, Mike Weaver, and Charles "Buzz" West.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Pine Bower Baptist Church. The family will receive flowers or in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pine Bower Baptist Church Building Fund.
