Mr. Terrell Vance (Terry) Nichols, age 73 of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, April 7th 2017, after an extended illness. He was born on March 1, 1944 in Cedartown. He was the son of the late W. W. (Toby) and Mildred (Sis) Landrum Rowell.
Mr. Nichols was a graduate of the Cedartown High School Class of 1964. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Cedartown. Mr. Nichols served in the Army National Guard and is a 37-year retiree from Lockheed-Martin in Marietta. He was a devoted husband for 40 years, beloved "Pop" to his children and grandchildren, coach to many, and a friend to all.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Shelby Goss Nichols, and sons and daughters-in law-, Pete and Karen Hutchings, Cody and Hanna Nichols, daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Britt Brumby, and daughter-in-law, Ashley Nichols; grandchildren Brooks Brumby, Hunter Hutchings, Marycille Brumby, Grancer Hutchings, Grayson Hutchings, Brooklyn Nichols, Coralee Brumby, Will Nichols, and baby Nichols due in 2017; sisters-in-law Brooke Goss Ferguson (David) and Carol Lynn Goss; an uncle, J.D. Nichols (Martha) many nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends also survive.
Mr. Nichols is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother and sister-in-law, Derrell Rance (Derry) and Jane Garrett Nichols; in-laws, Tom B. and Carolyn Brooks Goss, brother-in-law, Tom Bradley Goss, and many aunts and uncles.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Nichols will be conducted on Monday, April 10th at 5 o'clock in the afternoon at Second Baptist Church with Mr. Jason Rice and Mr. Elex Jarrell officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by Mr. Yancey Moore, Mrs. Brooke Ferguson, and Mr. Cody Nichols. The family will receive visitors from 3-5 pm on Monday preceding the service. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Blake Dodd and Mr. Jason Ward officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Brewster Cleveland Post # 86.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Shane Nichols, Joey Rice, Jason Stroup, Doug Racine, Drew Vann, Austin Vann, Olin Gammage, Bo Goss, Matt Patterson, and Terry Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Nichols' grandchildren: Brooks Brumby, Hunter Hutchings, Marycille Brumby, Grancer Hutchings, Grayson Hutchings, Brooklyn Nichols, Coralee Brumby, Will Nichols, and Gus Robert Gammage, and the former members of Company B 1-108 Armor Georgia Army National Guard.
The family will accept flowers and monetary donations can be made to Doc Ayers/Ray Beck Community Foundation, Second Baptist Church Building Fund, Heyman Hospice, and the American Cancer Society.
