Obituary

Services for Rev. Stevie Russell Tierce, 59, of Spring Garden will be Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Dutton, the Rev. David Blassengame, the Rev. Chris Tierce and the Rev. Ronnie Highfield officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Tierce passed away Friday, February 01, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. He was born on October 1, 1953. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Patty Highfield Tierce of Spring Garden; two daughters, Julie Bobbitt (Kevin) of Ball Play and Kelley Ballew (Kenny) of Spring Garden; one son, Russ Tierce (Nicole Brown) of Spring Garden; four grandchildren, Tyler Ballew, Rachel Ballew, Myleigh Bobbitt and Brooklyn Bobbitt; two brothers, David Tierce of Crossville and Chris Tierce (Carol) of Spring Garden; one sister, Mickie Kerr (Tony) of Spring Garden; his mother-in-law; Willene Highfield of McCords Cross Roads; special cousin, DennisTierce (Mary) of Spring Garden and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,and cousins. Pallbearers will be Ted Acker, Dennis Ragsdale, Gary Gowens, Russell Reece, Sonny Alexander, Gerald Kerr, John Rogers and Jim Silver. Honorary
pallbearers will be Tyler Ballew, Evan Kerr, Sam Tierce, Polk County Road Department, Spring Garden Ministerial Association, Weiss Lake Antique Power
Association, Howard Jackson, Earnest Holbrooks, Hal Matthews, Gene Smith, Doyle Kerr, Grady Rhinehart, Hayward Formby, and Joe Van Bowman. Rev. Tierce was the pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, was a lifelong member of Weiss Lake Antique Power Association, was a member of the Spring Garden Ministerial Association, Mount Signal Masonic Lodge and an honorary member of Spring Garden FFA. He was a beloved husband, daddy, pawpaw, brother and uncle. Rev. Tierce was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Russell Tierce and Joyce Tierce, a sister, Brenda Tierce and his father-in-law, N.C. Highfield. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 11, Spring Garden, AL 36275.
