Mrs. Serena Mae Dingler Shaw, age 87, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.  She was born on March 12, 1934 in Rockmart, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Amos and Docie Waits Dingler.

Mama was a very strong woman.  She was strong in her faith and in her love for family and friends.  Mama held a special place in her heart for anyone with special needs.  You see, Mama had a special needs son.  Not many people understand the sacrifices you have to make for their care. For 55 years she took excellent care of him, raised 3 daughters and supported her minster husband in his endeavors.  So Mama we salute you for you were truly a hidden hero.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by her daughters, Deborah Lankford (Ken), Pat Phillips (Dennis), and Melinda Swafford (Steve); several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shaw is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Hugh Golden Shaw, son, Michael Hugh Shaw, and sister, Jean Brown.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Serena Mae Dingler Shaw will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at one o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swafford and Rev. Phillip Swafford officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Shaw will receive family and friends on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from eleven o'clock in the morning until the funeral service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Dennis Phillips, Ken Lankford, Jason Stewart, Timothy Swafford, Brandon Phillips, Bryan Brown.
