Mr. Samuel Earl Smith, Sr. age 79, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016. He was born on October 12, 1936 in Esom Hill, Georgia. He was the son of the late Samuel Alexander Smith and Edna Earl Glaze Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jeanette Forrister Smith; children, Wilma and Wayne Gentry, Sammy and Velvet Smith, Cathy and Bill Hines and Tommy and Reena Smith; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his beloved dog, Rocky.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Samuel Earl Smith Sr. will be conducted on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at four o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Timms and Rev. Jim Glaze officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Smith will receive family and friends on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from two o'clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Andrew Hines, Daniel Gentry, Bartt Pirkle, Dennis Palmer, Tommy Forrister, and J.C. Richardson.
