Mr. Sammy Dean Timmons, age 84, of Cedartown, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011. He was born July 11, 1926 in Piedmont, South Carolina, the son of the late Boyd Timmons & Ethel Freeman Timmons.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedartown. He worked for 35 years with Lance Foods Inc. where we knew him as "The Lance Man" and he worked with Fite Wholesale Foods. Mr. Timmons was also a veteran having served his country in the United States Navy.

Mr. Timmons is survived by wife, Laura Frances Ward Timmons; daughter and son-in-law, Patty & Bob Hart; son and daughter-in-law, Dean & Nancy Timmons; and a sister, Sarah Hairston of Clements, S.C. He is survived by seven grandchildren; Erin & Brett Walters, Shelby & Norman Williams, Zach Timmons, Kristen Hart, Katy Hart, Bert Hart, and Kelly Hart, as well as five great grandchildren; Annalee Walters, Logan Walters, Nora Kate Williams, Nox Williams, and North Williams.

In keeping with his personal wishes, Mr. Timmons was cremated. The memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Cedartown Georgia with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 4, 2011 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church in Cedartown.

Flowers are to be omitted and any donations can be made to The Cedartown First Baptist Church, 101 North College Street, Cedartown, Georgia, 30125 in memory of Sammy Dean Timmons.

The Glenn Mitchell Sunday School Class are honorary pallbearers.
