Mrs. Ruth Erlene Barnes Nichols, age 84, of Cornelia, Georgia, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1922 in Polk County, the daughter of the late Mr. Carey Watson Barnes and Mrs. Ella Verdell Allgood Barnes.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Grady Nichols, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Diane Bartlett; son, Robert Jerry Nichols; and sisters, Johnnie Faye Johnson and Billie Carolyn Rodgers.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Jo Ballard of Cedartown; a foster daughter, Thelma Haisten; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Erlene Nichols will be conducted on Sunday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. The interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Gammage Funeral Home on Saturday, September 22, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also on Sunday, September 23 beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour,
