Obituary

Rev. Royal J. Marty, Sr. age, 81, of 121 Cashtown Road, Aragon, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005. Rev. Marty was born April 25, 1923 in Wisconsin to Parents, Mr. John E. Marty and Mrs. Wilma Marty.

He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Ruth Marty, Also surviving are Three Sons and Three Daughter-in-Laws, Mr. Rob Marty and Wife, Mrs. Wendy Marty; Mr. Roger Marty and Wife, Susan Marty; Mr. Royal J. Marty, Jr. and Wife, Kathy Marty; Five Grandchildren, Merissa Marty Bulman, Royal L. Marty, Meghan Marty, Mason Marty, and Robbie Marty, Jr. and a Sister, Lorraine Bruns. Rev. Royal Marty and his Wife, Mrs. Ruth Marty were host parents to Lily Kho of Singapore and Melanio (Lindy) Loresco of the Philippines.

Rev. Marty is a Veteran of World War II. He was a Radioman, a Gunner, and a Medic in the United States Army. After World War II Rev. Marty became a Minister in South Dakota. He worked in the mission field in Oahu and Maui, Hawaii and was a missionary to the Cherokee Indians in Cherokee, North Carolina. Rev. Marty went back to South Dakota and retired, then Rev. Marty came to Georgia to complete his Masters in Psychology at Georgia State University at which point he started the Crisis Intervention Center for Youth in Cobb County. Then, Rev. Marty came to Cedartown to work at Murphy - Harpst Children's Home. Rev. Marty also, had a private practice counseling service in Polk County until the mid 1990's. Rev. Marty was also a member and past president of several Lions Clubs and lastly, He won the Jubilee award in South Dakota for being in the Ministry for over 50 years.

The Memorial Service for Rev. Royal J. Marty will be held at Anna Kresge United Methodist Church of Cedartown on Wednesday, February 23rd at 1:00PM with the Rev. Michael P. Williams, Dr. Harvey Palmer, Rev. John Giglio also speaking are Son, Mr. Rob Marty and Daughter-in-Law, Mrs. Susan Marty. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the Memorial Service. After the Memorial Service the Anna Kresge United Methodist Church will host a reception for the family of Rev. Royal J. Marty, Sr.
