A memorial service will be held June 30th at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church for Richard (Dick) Potter Jones, 85, Cedar Bluff, AL, who died June 21st at Floyd Medical. Rev. Ricky Pollard will officiate at the celebration of Mr. Jones' life.

Mr. Jones was born in Columbus, NC but spent the majority of his life in South Fulton County (Ben Hill, GA) before moving to Cedar Bluff in 2005. He was an Elder at Mableton Community Church before moving to Alabama. He was currently a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Centre, AL.

Mr. Jones was a 30+ employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation in the Atlanta area as a Surveyor and Utilities Inspector before retiring. He served as a Scout Master for many years and loved working with the Boy Scouts of America.

He was preceded in death by wife, Melba Read Jones of Atlanta, parents, Ora Potter Jones and Waid Allan Jones Sr. of Atlanta; brother, Waid Allan (Al) Jones of Carrollton; nephew, Waid Allan Jones of Bowden.

Survivors include his sister, Nan and Luther Herman of Rocky Mount, NC; son, Rick and Allene Jones of Fayetteville; daughter, Cindy and John Davis, Cedar Buff, AL; granddaughter, Kelley and Mike Meyers of Newnan; grandson, Daniel and Caroline Jones of Marietta, GA; soon to be born great-granddaughter, Katelyn Grace Meyers; several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at a later date beside his wife at St. Andrews-in-the Pines Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.
