Mr. Ralph C. Camp, age 87, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Kennesaw. He had spent several years of his retirement at his second home in Cedartown, Georgia.

Mr. Ralph C. Camp was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nettie Mae Camp, formerly Nettie Mae Mullens, in 1999. Mr. Ralph C. Camp and his wife were graduates of Rossville High School in Rossville, Georgia, married February 16, 1950, and were residents of Kennesaw, Georgia since 1952.

Mr. Ralph C. Camp was born on October 21, 1925, in Fort Payne, Alabama, the son of Lumus Loran Camp and Lillie May Camp, formerly Lillie May Gilbreath. He was preceded in death by both parents.

Mr. Camp joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, training at the Naval Training School at Purdue University (LaFayette, Indiana), and serving as a Training Instructor at the Naval Air Training Center, Jacksonville, Florida, and Aviation Electrician in the Pacific on Tinian, Wake and Siapan. He was honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Camp attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; and worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority before spending 20 years at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Marietta, Georgia as a Special Courses Instructor, Technical Inspector, Aircraft Electrical and Functional Test Engineer, Senior Quality Control Engineer and then Corrective Action Coordinator. During his employment at Lockheed, he obtained his LLM degree (Masters of Law) from Atlanta Law School (1958). He was also the President and General Manager of Empire Estates, Inc. He then spent 10 years at and retired from the Atlanta office of Parsons Brinkerhoff & Tudor, a global engineering and construction management firm, where he worked on the MARTA project as a Senior Technical Specialist.

Mr. Ralph C. Camp is survived by his sister, Carol Camp Yeomans, and by his four children: Gayle Yvonne Camp of Kennesaw, Georgia; Ramona Lynn Camp of Athens, Georgia; Stephen Loran Camp of Athens, Georgia; and David Woodson Camp of Athens, Georgia. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Joseph Pierce Langham of Marietta, Georgia, and Brian Ephran Langham of Roswell, Georgia.

Mr. Camp was active in Republican politics, serving many times as one of Cobb County's delegates to Georgia's state convention, and a frequent speaker at Republican gatherings. He was a member of the Marietta American Legion, a founder and officer of the Georgia Taxpayer's Association and a Director of the Cobb County Association of Taxpayers, a charter member of Toastmasters International, and member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, National Management Association, and American Public Works Association. In retirement, he served on the Cobb County Board of Equalization.

Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home (555 W Cloud Springs Road, Rossville, Georgia, 706-866-5555), on Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with the memorial service at 3:00 pm. In keeping with Mr. Camp's wishes, he was cremated, and will be interred with his wife at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, immediately after his memorial service, with military honors.
