Ms. Rachel Odelle Sutton, age 66, of Cedartown passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012. She was born on August 13, 1945 in Rome, Georgia to the late Lemuel Doyle Sutton and Corine Sorrells Sutton.
Odelle graduated Rockmart High School in 1963. She loved marching with the band as a Majorette. After High School, she graduated from Massey Business College in Atlanta. She was a hard working lady, staying in the Atlanta area as an Administrative Assistant in Insurance Business fulltime and working part time with an Automobile Dealership for many years. She always made time for her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker, Georgia. She didn't just attend church, but instead she was totally involved with her church.
She moved back to Polk County six years ago and worked for AT&T for two years and upon retirement worked part time in Youngs Grove Elementary School Cafeteria. The First Baptist Church of Cedartown became her Church home. She jumped right in and again became totally involved. She wrote, produced, and directed a play for the Church and each year produced a "talent" show, one of which was titled "Cloud of Witnesses". Her friend Tish Moore said, "Odelle has now joined the "Cloud of Witnesses". Odelle loved visiting shut ins and working with Sunday School and WMU. She now has her Crown in Heaven.
Odelle also loved working Crossword Puzzles. Odelle, her cat "Miss Kitty", and Mark Harmon never stopped pulling for the Braves while enjoying Nekot Cookies and Coffee.
