Mrs. Rachel D. Atkins, age 82, of Cedartown passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2006. She was born on January 5, 1924 in Polk County.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Horace Atkins; sons, Jimmy Atkins and J.R. Atkins; parents, Marshall Dutton and Bessie Fullbright Dutton; a sister; 4 brothers. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy Cooter and a Great Granddaughter, Jenah Temple.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws; Diane Atkins Bailey and Charles Bailey and Brenda Atkins Temple and Gary Temple and a sister, Annie Couzzort. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rachel D. Atkins will be conducted on Friday, October 13th at 2:00p.m. in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Pyles officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12th from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. at Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are James Atkins, Kevin Atkins, Doug Atkins, Randy Shaw, Billy Bailey and James Lamar.
