Mrs. Opal Jackson, age 74, of Haralson County, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2009. She was born in Haralson County, Georgia on April 27, 1935 to the late Orth Elder and Leders Carnes Elder.

Opal was a wife and mother who was greater than you could ask for and more. She was a military wife and mother that traveled the world, but never lost her love for Cedartown. She was a loving, caring, and sympathetic human being who cared for others more than herself. She will be missed and always remembered as a truly loving person.

Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her son, Richard Jackson; grand daughter, Amber Jackson; sisters, Shirley Jones and Terry Piccione; and brother, Glen Elder

She is survived by her husband, Frank Jackson; sons, Wayland Jackson and Marvin "Butch" Jackson; grandchildren, Lacey Watkins and Joni Jackson; and brothers, William Elder and Willard Elder.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. R.B. Hulsey officiating.

Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery. Brad Elder, Tommy Elder, John Brewster, Marlin Huffmaster, James Bunch, and William Elder will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home.
