Norma Eugene Wills Bowie, age 86, of Kennesaw, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 after a short illness. Funeral service will be 2 PM Monday, March 14, 2011 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with the Reverend Brian Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born and raised in Paulding County, Mrs. Bowie was the eldest of 4 children born to John W. and Agnes G. Wills. She was a resident of Cobb County for 25 years. As a military officer's wife, she lived in various parts of the country and in Europe, including Paris, France for 3 years. Mrs. Bowie was a homemaker and a member of Acworth United Methodist Church where she was involved in Sunday School and was also a cancer support volunteer driver. Mrs. Bowie adored her family and was a faithful friend. She had the gift of hospitality and took great joy in entertaining family and friends.
Mrs. Bowie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dwain T. Bowie, and siblings Johnnie Wills, Denny Wills and Frankie Smith.
Mrs. Bowie is survived by sons Douglas Bowie of Asheville, NC, Randall Bowie of Brussells, Belgium, and Daniel Bowie of Kennesaw; Daughters Mary Ellis of Cumming and Katherine Bowie-Luttrell of Cave Springs, GA; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and at least 3 granddogs.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta.
