Mr. Monte Floyd Cummings, Jr. age 79, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2010. He was born on February 26, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Mr. and Mrs. Monte and Ann Sirak Cummings.

Mr. Mote Floyd Cummings, Jr. was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Old Forge, Pennsylvania and a Veteran of the United States Army and the Korean War serving as Intelligence and Reconnaissance Sergeant of the 65th Infantry Regiment 3rd Infantry Division, and a retired machine operator from the Newark Group.

Mr. Monte Floyd Cummings, Jr. is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monte Floyd and Ann Sirak Cummings; brother, Robert Cummings; sisters, Nancy Baumback and Helen Patterson and grandsons, Bryan Flowers and Roy Flowers.

Mr. Monte Floyd Cummings, Jr. is survived by his wife, Shirley Cummings; his first wife, Dorothy Ayers; sons, Michael Cummings of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary and JoAnn Cummings, of Buchanan, Georgia; daughters, Rebecca and Trace Hansen, of San Diego, California and Ann and David Cupp, of Cedartown, Georgia; 15 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 7 great-grandsons, 5 great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Monte Floyd Cummings, Jr. will be conducted on Friday, September 24, 2010 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Martin and Rev. Randy Vines officiating.

Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Cedartown, Georgia with full Military Rites conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 7-9pm at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can be made to the Valley View Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1608, Cedartown, Georgia 30125.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Cummings' grandsons.
