Mr. Matthew Wayne Prather, age 20, of Cedartown passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007. He was born on March 9, 1987 in Floyd County.
Matthew was a 2005 graduate of Cedartown High School. He was an accomplished musician. Matthew attended Jacksonville State University and Brevard Music Center and was currently attending Georgia Highlands College.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman Prather and Sara Prather.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Ann Gammon Jacks and Steve Jacks; father and step mother, H. Charles Prather and Corene Prather; brother, Stephen Mark Jacks; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne W. Gammon Sr.; aunts, A. Page Gammon, M. Claire Gammon, Patsy V. Haney, Kathy Prather, Lynn McDermott and Virginia Prather; uncles, Terry Jenkins and David Jenkins and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wright Gammon, Jr. Also surviving are several cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 27th at 11:00a.m. in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Rev. Bruce Farrant officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 26th from 7:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Sam Townsend, Mike Townsend, Stephen Mansfield, Brandon Denton, Andrew Staib, Joey Wright and Derrick Rader. Honorary pallbearer, Daniel Sa.
