Mrs. Mary Jo Howell Walker, affectionately known to many as Jody, age 86 of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Friday, July 24th, 2026.Mrs. Walker was born in Cleburne County (Oak Level), AL, on April 14th 1940, the daughter of the late Mr. William Harold Howell and Mrs. Para Pruitt Howell.
She was a resident of Cedartown for most of her young life, graduating from Cedartown High School in 1958. She retired after many years of service with the Social Security Administration in both Georgia and Wisconsin. She was a resident of Kenosha, Wisconsin, for almost 20 years and spent the bulk of her retirement years living in Carrolton, Georgia. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Carrolton, Georgia, where she and her late husband donated countless hours in the service of our Lord.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Mr. Joe Murray Walker, her parents, and a sister, Mrs. Sue Mason. She is survived by her sister Mrs. Sarah Sparks, her brother Mr. Bill Howell (Junko); nieces, Missy Cornett (Aaron), Lori Sheridan (Lee), and Karen Lambrecht (Mike); nephews, David Mason (Heather), Jeff Mason (Kim), Greg Mason, Mark Sparks (Heather), and Lee Howell (Isabelle). Numerous great nieces and great nephews also survive.
The family of Mrs. Walker will receive family and friends on July 27th, 2026 from four o'clock in the afternoon until six o'clock in the evening. The funeral service will follow visitation in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home in Cedartown, Georgia, with Pastor Kenny Teal officiating.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026 at the Ebenezer Crossroads Church Cemetery, 1400 GA-18 Barnesville, GA 30204.
