Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carnes Lee Simpson Lee, age 93, of Felton, Georgia passed away Friday, February 6, 2009. She was born September 7, 1915, the daughter of the late Jacob L. Carnes and Mary Elizabeth Smith Carnes of Felton, Georgia.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Felton and past member of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Darcey's Manufacturing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Amos Simpson and first husband, Rev. Gus Hobson Lee; and son, W.T. Lee.

Mrs. Lee is survived by son, Arthur Herbert Lee and his wife, Lou Lee of Tallapoosa, Georgia; daughter, Doris Elizabeth Lee Watson and her husband, James Watson of Douglasville; brother, William Thomas (Bill) Carnes; sister, Ina Roberson Craig. Three granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, February 8th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Caldwell and Rev. Rayford Parker officiating. The interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David McKibben, Donny Pitts, Tim Owens, Gary Martin, Chad Sosebee, Jimmy Jackson, Patrick Doyle, John Brautigam, and Aury Pitts.
