Mr. Mark Leon Morris, age 64 of Childersburg, Alabama, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born on December 19, 1952, in Rome, Georgia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon and Gilda Thompson Morris.
Mark was a talented athlete enjoying all sports throughout his life. In his youth Mark loved playing baseball, football, and basketball. Some of his fondest memories were when he played basketball at Cedartown High School and following the career of his favorite player, Pistol Pete Maravich. As an adult Mark played softball and coached multiple teams in multiple sports. One thing he got to enjoy was being the Anonymous sports writer for the Cedartown standard under the name of Cagey Carl. When Mark was not working or coaching he enjoyed landscaping and entertaining his many friends, often remembered for being the life of the party and smiling all the time.
Mark is survived by his parents; daughters, Megan Sharrow (Jason) and Kaley Morris; sister, Melissa Morris Cain (Bob) and grandsons, Carter Sharrow and Gunner Hatch; and his boxer named Kramer.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Mark Leon Morris will be conducted on Friday, December 15, 201,7 at eleven o'clock in the morning at the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown with Rev. DeWayne Gibson, Ms. Megan Sharrow and Rev. Mike Broome officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mark's family will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 14, 2017, from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Mark's family is accepting flowers; however, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 Wissahickon Avenue, Cedartown, GA 30125.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Phillip Gammage Bob Cain, John Brewster, Jerry Holder, Albert Smith and Tim Garmon.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jim Barr, Preston Camp, Jr., Gil Jones, Russell Haddock, Bob Worthington and Mike Taff.
