Mrs. Margaret Jo Couey Merritt, age 88 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.  She was born on January 20, 1937 in Cedartown; she lived in Cedartown her entire life, she was the daughter of the late Carroll and Oderine Brazier Couey.

Mrs. Merritt was very involved in her church, Pine Bower Baptist Church of Cedartown and loved her church family.

Mrs. Merritt was retired from Polk School District where she worked in the many cafeteria's in Polk County; she loved working with the children.  She was very kind, and always was willing to help people and share what she had.

Mrs. Merritt is survived by her two sons, Kenneth James Merritt (Hazel) and Tony Aubrey Merritt and several grandchildren.

Mrs. Merritt is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy Kenneth Merritt.

In keeping with Mrs. Merritt's wishes she was cremated.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at ten o'clock in the morning in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Merritt will receive family and friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from four o'clock in the afternoon until six o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
