Obituary

Mrs. Marcy Jan Arrington Van Kleef, age 52 of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024.  She was born on August 8, 1972 in Rome, Georgia. She was the daughter of Gere Arrington and the late Herschel Arrington.

Mrs. Marcy Van Kleef is survived by her mother Gere Arrington; husband of 28 and a half years, William "Will" Van Kleef III; daughters, Molly (Peter) Clance and Emily Van Kleef; sister, Zegie (Chris) Hilliard; nephew, Mitchell (Ansley) Scoggins; and great-nephew Mitchell "Bubba" Scoggins.

Marcy was preceded in death by her father, Herschel Arrington; in-laws, William "Tiny" and Marlys Van Kleef and grandparents, Homer and Beatrice Arrington, as well as Zegie and Mamie Lefevers. She is also preceded in death by her beloved Golden Retriever, Buddy.

Marcy Van Kleef was a graduate of Coosa High School and Floyd (now Georgia Highlands) College where she received her Registered Nursing degree. Marcy worked for Redmond Hospital for over twenty years on the cardiac floor as well as in utilization management. She completed her nursing career at Kindred Hospital in Rome, Georgia as a case manager. Marcy was a beloved nurse who thoroughly enjoyed caring for patients and their families, training new nurses, and sharing Christ's love through her compassionate care.

Mrs. Marcy Van Kleef was also a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. Although health restrictions limited her physical attendance of church services in recent years, Marcy worshiped "virtually" among congregational members through digital live streams. Marcy is also known for her card ministry where she would send out heartfelt cards to those in need of encouragement, prayer, or to share a little joy. She was simply known as one to always know what to say when others were in need.

Mrs. Marcy Van Kleef was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Marcy was exceptionally proud of her family and devoted her time and efforts to being with those she loved most. Her positive attitude and outlook on life influenced others in every capacity. There is not a single soul who has not been touched by her life as she loved everyone she met. Mrs. Marcy Van Kleef's joyously beautiful spirit and memory will continue to bless others forever.

In keeping with Mrs. Marcy Van Kleef's wishes, she was cremated. The family of Marcy Van Kleef will have a celebration of life service on Saturday, January 18, 2025, beginning with the receiving of friends and family at 11 o'clock with the service following at noon at Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia. Dr. David Taylor and Dr. DeWayne New will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that love offerings be made out to and sent to the Garden Lakes Baptist Church building fund. Garden Lakes Baptist Church is located at 2200 Redmond Circle in Rome, GA 30165.
