Lucy Vell Holbrooks Dean passed away on June 10, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, John Harold Dean.

She is preceded in death by Harry "Chuck" Smart and Leon "Bud" Wright; son, Harry Randall "Randy" Smart.

Survived by her children, Debbie Casey (Bill Casey), Leonda Nixon (Greg Nixon), Barry Smart (Mary-Jane Smart) Jody Quillian (Chris Quillian), and Johnny Dean;Her grandchildren, Blake Parris, Eron Smart, Cory Coleman, Maryellen McCray, Erin McCray, Wesley Dean, Justin Dean, and Jonathan Dean; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren who she loved deeply.

Lucy was born and raised in Cedartown, Georgia. She retired from Engineered Fabrics, was a volunteer member of the Red Cross, and a member of Youngs Grove Church. Lucy was a strong and beautiful woman inside and out. She greeted life with a smile on her face and a heart full of love. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Lucy Vell Holbrooks Dean will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage Funeral Home, with Rev. Blake Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Dean will receive family and friends on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 12 o'clock noon until the hour of the funeral at the Gammage Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Heyman Hospice.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Cory Coleman, Eron Smart,Blake Parris, and Shane Ridgeway.
