Mr. Loyd Strickland, age 89, of Cedartown passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010. He was born July 16, 1921 in Haralson County, Georgia.

He retired from the City of Cedartown in 1986 after 38 ½ years of service. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katie Mae Miller Strickland; daughters, Linda West and Carolyn Lee; sons & daughters-in-law, Larry Strickland & Darlene and Delmer Strickland & Suanna; sister, Meirlyn Crawford; brother, James Preston Strickland; 12 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

He is preceded in death by parents, Will Strickland & Willie Rudeseal Strickland; son, Wayne Strickland; sister, Burlean Kitchens; brothers, Clarence Strickland & Van Strickland.

The funeral for Mr. Loyd Strickland will be conducted on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:00 in the afternoon in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. DeWayne New officiating and Mr. Lynn Gammage delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home.

Donald Crawford, Bryan Hatch, Ken Hatch, Joey Lee, Bradley Strickland, Danny Strickland, Jamie Strickland, and Roy Strickland will serve as Pallbearers.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Loyd Strickland.
