Obituary

Ms. Louise Rice Hurst, age 95, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012. She was born on November 2, 1916 in Randolph County, AL. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. and Lector Campbell Rice.

Ms. Hurst is survived by her children, Opal Dowdy, Glenda Alford and husband H.T., Janice Pilgram and husband James, Randy Hurst and wife Yolanda, Myra Bullard, Angela Kitchens and husband Eddie; brother, Newt Rice and wife Maxi; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Ms. Hurst is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William T. Hurst; daughter, Martha Sue Mathis; son, Douglas Anthony Hurst and a number of brothers and sisters.

The funeral arrangements for Ms. Louise Rice Hurst will be conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at four o'clock in the afternoon in the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. DeWayne New and Dr. Charles Drummond officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Hurst will receive family and friends on Friday, March 16, 2012 from seven o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers; Gary Dowdy, Edmond Lane, Jeff Dowdy, Tim Adkins, Keith Bullard and Caleb Kitchens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ms. Hurst's Grandchildren.
