Mrs. Linda Sue Barrett-Shaw, age 79 of Cedartown, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was born in Monroe, North Carolina on March 14, 1944.
Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, life-partner, cousin and friend. Linda graduated from Cedartown High School in 1962.
During her life, Linda enjoyed writing poetry, crocheting, growing vegetables and flowers and spending time with family.
She was always an animal lover; she has had many pet dogs throughout her life. Linda worked for the Winn-Dixie company for many years until retirement.
Left to mourn her loss are daughters, Kimberly A. Ely and Amanda E. Shaw, both of Cedartown, Georgia; sister, Norma J. Summerville of Michigan; grandchildren, Christan Brooke Leatherwood, Hayden Ely, Cameron Ely all of Cedartown, Georgia; great grandchildren, Carter Griffin, Noah Griffin, Lynlee Ely, all of Cedartown, Georgia, Londyn Rae Williams of Rockmart, Georgia; nieces, Susan W. Hynes of Virginia and Donna J. Hughes of New Hampshire; and first cousins, Robert Cargile of Tennessee and Mary Catherine Paolini of Atlanta, Georgia.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward Barrett of Monroe, North Carolina and Marjorie Rosetta Cargile Barrett of Cedartown, Georgia; her partner of 25 years, Marvin Paul Williams; uncle, Robert Cargile; aunts, Hazel Chandler Cargile and Lillie Marie Cargile all of Cedartown, Georgia; brother-in-law, Chesley W. Summerville of Michigan; and beloved grandson, James Triston Williams of Cedartown, Georgia.
In keeping with Linda's wishes, her body was cremated. A memorial will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 2pm at her home. Please contact Amanda Shaw or Kim Ely for address and/or directions if needed.
