Obituary

Mrs. Laura Jane Rice Anderson, age 68, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Laura Jane was born on November 6, 1954 in Rome, Georgia.  Laura was the daughter of the late Joseph Newt and Maxielee Stone Rice.  She enjoyed growing up in the country with her three brothers and sister.

Laura graduated from Cedartown High School where she made many close friends for life.  Laura enjoyed playing the piano and taught many young children how to play.  She then utilized her sharp secretarial skills working for several attorneys in the Rome area before moving to Birmingham, Alabama where she became a top administrative assistant for several large funeral homes.  She then moved back to Rome, where she held the same positions with West Oak Chapel and Good Shepherd Funeral home.

Laura held her most fulfilling and enjoyable position at Berry College Early Childhood Development Center, located in the log cabins on Berry's Campus. The children and teachers loved her caring and thoughtful manner, which they lovingly called Mrs. Laura.  She retired after 17 years.

Laura was of the Christian faith and loved her Lord Jesus.  She expressed her love for Christ by showing a loving kindness to everyone she met. After meeting her love of her life, she married Jeff Anderson on March 21, 1999, the first day of spring.  She loved her family and friends and enjoyed going to antique malls and decorating as a hobby.
