Mr. Leamon "L.A." Stephens Sr., age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009. He was born September 2, 1932 in Polk County, Georgia.

Mr. Stephens was a retired Senior Superintendent of H.E. Hennigh, Inc. with over 50 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Ralph Stephens, Sr. and Argris Evangeline Smith Stephens; and two siblings, Margaret Stephens and Daniel Stephens.

Mr. Stephens is survived by wife, Betty Clines Stephens; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene & Don Smith and Brenda & Doug Elkins; son, Leamon A. Stephens, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, James & Gina Stephens; five grandchildren, Cala Elkins, Hannah Smith, Jonathan Smith, Lydia Elkins, and Brittany Stephens; two sisters, Jeanette Stephens and Nancy Nix; three brothers, Ralph Stephens, Jr. Darrell Stephens, and Earnest Stephens. Also surviving are numerous Nieces and Nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. L. A. Stephens, Sr. will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Beck officiating. Dr. Larry Conner will conduct the family prayer and Mr. Darrell Stephens will share the eulogy. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. DeWayne New officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Phil Stephens, Sammy Stephens, Darrell Stephens, Jr., Billy Nix, Ed Sweezey, Randy Norman, and Wally Hindman.

Honorary pallbearers are all past H.E. Hennigh employees.
