Obituary

Mrs. Josephine McWhorter, age 91, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. She was born October 22, 1917 in Polk County.

She was greeted in heaven by her husband of thirty-five years, Charles Edward McWhorter, who passed in 1971; son-in-law, Bobby Gene Earley, who passed in 1991; granddaughter, Bonita Joy Welchel, who passed at birth in 1961; parents, Thomas and Roseler Malone Palmer; siblings, Joe Palmer, Gertrude Palmer, Dora Palmer Liles, Lizzie Mae Palmer Dingler; mother-in-law, Jenny McWhorter Griffin; father-in-law, Jim McWhorter.

Mrs. McWhorter is survived by daughters, Charlotte Earley, Irene Welchel and husband, Robert, Frances Mobbs and husband, John L.; grandchildren, Debi Earley Beckman and husband, Bruce, Jo Ann Earley Ackley, Polly Mobbs Hopkins and husband, Stanley, Pamela Mobbs O'Neal and husband, Tracy, Kevin Mobbs and wife, Selena, Edward Welchel, Beverly Welchel Stephens and husband, Danny.

Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Micky Beckman and wife, Ale, Ali Beckman East and husband, Brandon, Brian Beckman, T. J. Beckman, Robin Langley Benefield and husband, Jeffrey, Kayland Hopkins, Ethan O'Neal, Dixie Mobbs, Justin Golden, Tiffany Golden Thomason and husband, Vernoy; great-great-grandchildren, Robert and James Benefield, Dustin Ward, Solomon East, Trent East, Tristan Davis, Ema Beckman, Maya Beckman, Logan Beckman, Ava Bowling, Makayla Thomason. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Josephine McWhorter will be conducted on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Timms and Bro. Kevin Geter officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 26th , from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Brian Beckman, Larry Dingler, Justin Golden, Len Maples, Kevin Mobbs, and Dennis Palmer.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Josephine McWhorter.
