Obituary

Mr. John "Tinker" P. Hopkins, age 66, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011. He was born on June 14, 1944 in Cedartown, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emment Russell and Annie Bell Welchel Hopkins.

Mr. Hopkins is survived by a son, Johnny D. Hopkins; sisters, Barbara Smith, Wynette White, Diane Harrell and Joyce McLarty; brothers, Bobby Hopkins, Ray Hopkins, Alvin Hopkins, James Hopkins and Ronnie Hopkins; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hopkins is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emment Russell and Annie Bell Welchel Hopkins; his wife, Ms. Mattie Beatrice "Bea" Davis Hopkins and daughter, Tammy Denise Cheatwood.

The funeral service for Mr. Hopkins will be conducted on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Friendly Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Smith officiating. Mr. Hopkins will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral hour.

Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Hopkins will receive friends on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers; Russ Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Randy Hopkins, Zack Cheatwood, Jimmy Davis and Jeremy Hindman.
