Mr. Jimmy Paul Vincent, 74, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 following a long illness.

He was born in Cedartown on February 24, 1940 to the late Thomas Julian "Lefty" Vincent and the late Geraldine Heard Vincent. He graduated from Cedartown High School in 1958 and married Sandra Teems Vincent of Cedartown on July 12, 1958.

Jimmy was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cedartown from the mid 70s until his passing. As a member of the Sanctuary Choir and a long time Deacon, Jimmy was asked countless times to sing solos at worship services there, as well as other churches around the area. He was an active supporter of youth sports and programs in Cedartown and Polk County and was a member of various groups, clubs, and teams. He was elected to the Polk County School Board in the 80s and was the journalist that delighted the community with his local humor and youth sports support as the author of In the Dog House , a sports themed column in the Cedartown Standard. He retired from the Newark Paper Company in 2005.

Jimmy is survived by Sandra, his wife of 56 years; three children Camille Donaldson and her husband, David of Carrollton, Georgia, Jim Vincent and his wife, Vicki of Cedartown, and Deanne Jones, of Dalton, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Whitney Donaldson Baldizon and her husband Fernando, Stephanie Jones Thomas, and her husband Andrew, Dottie Vincent, Eric Donaldson, Abby Vincent, Matt Jones, and Jamie Vincent: and one great grandchild, Liana Baldizon. He is also survived by his brothers Gary Vincent (Ruth) and Dennis Vincent (Marilyn,) and a sister, Becky Brock (Thomas Brock, Jr.).

He will lie in state at Gammage Funeral Home, and friends are invited to join the family on Sunday, February 22, from 3 – 6 PM for a public viewing. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Cedartown, Georgia at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, 2015 with Dr. David Taylor and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy's nephews and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church.
