Mr. Jimmy Spencer Runyon, age 69, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. He was born in Cedartown to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Travis Lee Runyon.

Mr. Runyon was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by Hobson Jewelry, Rome Plow and retired from Hon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown and attended the LD Wheeler Sunday school class. Mr. Runyon was a very active youth leader in the Boy Scouts for Polk County and attained Eagle Scout and his heart was fully into these scouts and loved them dearly.

Mr. Runyon is survived by his loving wife, of 46 years, Sheryl Hobson Runyon; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jennifer Runyon; brother, Doug and Judy Runyon; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Josh and Kassidy Runyon and one step-grandchild, John Adams.

Mr. Runyon is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Travis Lee Runyon; son, David Runyon and brother, Wayne Runyon.

The funeral service for Mr. Runyon will be conducted on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at two o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church of Cedartown, Georgia with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating and Mr. Dennis Worthington, Mr. Ben Parris and Mr. Bobby Arrington will be providing the eulogies. The music will be provided by the Brown Family, children of the late Artie Brown.

Interment will follow after the service in the Northview Cemetery with full military rites by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86.

The family of Mr. Runyon will receive friends on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 5-8pm at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has respectfully requested that donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cedartown Memorial Fund, 101 North College Street, Cedartown, Georgia 30125.

Pallbearers will be Joel Runyon, Bruce Meade, George Hunt, Jerry Lee, Charles Lee, John Stone, and Mike Gammage.

Posthumous pallbearer will be David Runyon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Blankenship, the LD Wheeler Sunday School Class and Boy Scouts.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Jimmy Spencer Runyon.
