Mr. Jimmy Ray ("J.R.") Smith, age 70, of 202 East Jule Peek Avenue, Cedartown, Ga, passed away Friday, September 17, 2005. He was born June 9, 1935 in Polk County. He was retired from Diamond Shamrock after 20 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by: parents, E.C. and Ada Sue Smith, wife, Mearlyn Jackson Smith; son, Ronald Lee Smith; Grandson, Samuel Jerome Smith; brother, Ernest " Buster" Smith.

He is survived by: Son, Troy Smith; Sons and Daughters In Law, Randy and Wanda Smith, Jerome and Rena Smith; Sisters, Helen Stroup, Sara Wood, Delma Wilson, Linda Womack; Brothers, Carl Smith, Nathan Smith; Grandchildren, D.J. & Nikki Watson, Andrea & Adrian Smith, Amanda Riding, Corey & Kara Smith, and Jamey Donaldson; Great Grandchildren, Ashton & Andrew Hughes, Shay Riding, Anthony Reeves, & Bryson Lee Childs. A number of Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral Service for Mr. Jimmy Ray (J.R.) Smith will be conducted Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Tucker and Rev. Bobby Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday September 19, 2005 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.
