Mrs. Jewell Beatrice Powers Smith, age 82, of Cedartown passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008. She was born April 23, 1926 in Claysville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Mr. William Christopher Powers and Mrs. Sally Beatrice Rollings Powers.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a devoted wife and of 62 years. She was also a member of East View Baptist Church, the East View WMU, and the Cedar Valley Shrinettes.

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her son Larry J. Smith and her parents.

Jewell Beatrice Smith is survived by husband, Monroe J. Smith; daughters and son-in-law, Donna & Jim Mullen, Tammy & Timmy Odom; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron & Cathy Smith; daughter-in-law, Diann Smith; sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Sims of Guntersville, AL and Ruby Green of Rainesville, AL; brothers, Julian (Pat) Powers of Cleveland, TN and Billy Powers of Albertville, AL; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Scott Smith, Kristie Mullen Smith, Jeremy Mullen, Madison Odom, and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Jewell Beatrice Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at East View Baptist Church with Rev. Reginald Campbell officiating. The interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jason Smith, Scott Smith, Nick Smith, Jeremy Mullen, William Smith, and Darrell Sims. Honorary Pallbearers are Kristie Smith, Madison Odom, Keely Smith, Christopher Smith, and Logan Smith.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to East View Baptist Church.
