Mrs. Jewell Bussey Chandler, age 92, of Cedartown passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. She was born February 24, 1916 in Troup County, Georgia.
Mrs. Jewell Chandler is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clifford Dewey Chandler. They married December 17, 1932 and at the time of his passing they had been married 67 years. She, just as Rev. Chandler did, committed their lives to the Lord and Christian ministry. They were truly loved and highly respected by family, friends, and the community.
Mrs. Chandler is also preceded by daughter, Martha Jean Chandler, and great-grandson, Chase Ray Floyd.
Mrs. Jewell Chandler is survived by sons, Dewey Chandler of Cedartown; Darryal Chandler of Houston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Carl Pedro Myers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nora and Cyrus Jones; granddaughter, Tammy Chandler Floyd; grandsons, D. L. "Toby" Chandler, Jr., Bryan Chandler, and Scott Chandler; great-grandchildren, Halie Floyd Bissell, Ellie Ann Chandler, Lauryn Jamie Chandler, Cameron Chandler, Brady Chandler, Caleb Chandler, and Nathaniel Roberts Chandler. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Jewell Chandler will be conducted on Saturday, January 24th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Latham and Dr. Larry Conner officiating. The interment will be in the family lot at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jim Campbell, Glenn Hightower, Bryan Chandler, Toby Chandler, David Chandler, and Shawn Bissell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 23rd, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home. At other times the family can be contacted at the Chandler's home, 121 Jule Peek Ave., Cedartown.
