Obituary

Jeanette Knight Garmon, age 85 passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, she was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on September 23, 1934 to Fred Napoleon Knight and Loma Lester Knight. She was named after her Aunt Mary and Aunt Gertie. Jeanette was the oldest grandchild of Sterling and Fannie Knight and Joseph and Norris Lester.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Garmon, her parents Fred Napoleon Knight and Loma Lester Knight, and two brothers, James (Jim) Joseph Knight and Larry Dawson Knight.

Jeanette is survived by son, Michel Chester Garmon (Guadalupe) of Oro Valley, Arizona, daughter Patti Garmon Hurd (Jim) of Cary North Carolina; grandchildren Matthew, Sara, Ana Paula Garmon, Betsy and Nan Hurd, and Jenny Hurd Rajkovacz; great-granddaughters Nora, Bethany and Helen Hurd; sister, Linnie Robinson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanette began her career in 1952 as a reporter and photographer for the Cedartown Standard. She stopped working to raise her family. Later she worked at JC Penney on Main Street and Diamond Shamrock. After retirement, Chester and Jeanette moved to Pace, FL to be with family. Jeanette and Chester enjoyed traveling across the United States. Jeanette enjoyed working with flowers, sewing, embroidery, music and especially enjoyed playing the piano. After the death of her husband Chester, she moved to North Carolina to be with family. Family was one of the most important things to her.

Jeanette was a past member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Cedartown and a current member of Wallace Baptist Church in Pace Florida.

In accordance with local, state and federal guidelines a private graveside service will be held at Northview Cemetery. Mr. Bill Garmon will officiate.
