Mr. J. D. Pitts, age 86, formerly residing on Jule Peek Ave., Cedartown, passed away December 1, 2007 in an out of town hospital. He was born April 10, 1921. Mr. Pitts was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Mr. Pitts is preceded in death by wife, Clarice Hill Pitts; daughter, Sylvia Ann Pitts; parents, George Dan Pitts, Sr. and Lillian Turner Pitts; sisters, Pearl Tanner, Edna Hindmon, Janelle Gaylor, Estell Milam and brother, George Pitts.

Family members that are surviving are son, William Dan Pitts and his wife, Cathy; grandsons, David William Pitts and his wife, Tiffany, and Stephen Dan Pitts; sisters, Bell Harry, Mary Crawford, Sadie Smith.

Graveside service for Mr. J. D. Pitts will be conducted on Sunday, December 2, at 2:00 pm at Northview Cemetery with Dr. James Guy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday December 2, 2007 from 1:00 until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Harold Pinkard, Roy Mauldin, Gary Hindmon, Ardale Davidson, David Pitts, and Stephen Pitts.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 409 Cobb St., Cedartown, GA 30125 or The American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Marietta, GA 30067 or Big Oak Ranch for Boys, 5265 Jake Mintz Rd., Southside, AL 35905.
