Mrs. Janie Frances Brock, Age 110, passed away on July 15, 2005. Mrs. Brock was born on July 11, 1895 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Ulysses Simpson and Aletha Hall Simpson.

In 1913 Janie Simpson married Gayle Brock of Cedartown, son of James Bethel Brock and Mary Ellen Ray Brock.

Mrs. Brock was the oldest citizen of Polk County and the oldest member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her Husband of Fifty-Four years, Gayle Brock, Sr.; Parents, Ulysses and Aletha Simpson; her outstanding young son, Gayle Brock, Jr.; a brother, Elmer Simpson and a sister, Aletha Powell.

Mrs. Brock is survived by her daughter, Mary Virginia Brock Hamrick; three grandchildren, Brock Hamrick, of Cedartown; Gayle Hamrick, of Augusta; and Janie Hamrick Jacobs, of Columbia, MO; and six great-grandchildren and three great – great grandchildren.

The family will have a private graveside service for Mrs. Janie Frances Brock on July 16th at 11:00 O'clock in the morning at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery
